Celebrating 23 Cool Cities!
We had a great cake at the ExCom over the weekend to celebrate 23 Cool Cities! Christa Wagner did a masterful job putting each of them on the cake. Pictured from left to right are Len Griffiths, Kathy Pounds, Bill Kloepfer, Ginny Kloepfer, Dave Pritchard, Elyse Jung, Jerry Varner, Kim Yarbray, John Calhoun, and Henry Fansler. Between them they worked to make Brevard, Winston-Salem, Greenville, and Greensboro Cool Cities!

Seems that if Raleigh really wishes to live up to it's "Cool City" designation, it would and should weigh in on Progress Energy's new "vegetation management" program in which they are currently in the process of cutting down rather than pruning 50,000 mature trees such as Oaks, Maples, Pines and Cedars under their transmission lines in North Carolina and South Carolina.
ReplyDeleteProgress Energy has no plans to replace these trees with other vegetation nor will it remove the ugly stumps in the wake of this clear-cutting program.
