Only the roads were foggy

Not the minds of our fantastic volunteers! My trip to Morganton and Asheville was a success!

The South Mountains Group folks who met with me in Morganton were so organized and so nice that all I can say is WOW! This Group has come together to create a Cool Cities sub-committee, has recruited 3 Cool Cities, and is now working with the Cool City Morganton to complete a greenhouse gas inventory and to create a citizens environmental advisory group.

Asheville is as you know, very progressive, and I’m glad to report that they still have things up their sleeves. Councilwoman Robin Cape led a very interesting discussion regarding current actions the town is taking to go greener. In fact, Councilman Brownie Newman and she are working with state legislatures to pass permission to cities to create a voluntary tax that will enable property owners to install solar power and to employ other energy efficiency actions on their home at a lower cost.
